Kevin Smith is one of my all time favourite screenwriters & directors…. why? you ask?

Ok for this answer I most go to the year 1993.

Kevin Smith was 24 at that time and just got out of the VFS ( Vancouver Film School )

As he want back to New Jersey (his Hometown) he and his friend Scott Mosier wanted to make a film that should shook up the movie scene.

The film I talk about is “Clerks”, the self produced and financed movie that lead Smith straight to Hollywood and made him a house hold name in the U.S. independent scene.

As I above-mentioned … it was a complete self financed movie that cost about 27.000 Bucks witch is a extreeeeeemly low buget.

All he has was a hand full of actors, including family members and school buddies like Jason Mews (better known as Jay)…. 10 maxed credit carts (all with a 2000$ limit) and a script.

Just for the fact that he has the balls to do what ever it has to take to realize his dream

made him a good choice in my “Idol” section.

Besides that, Kevin Smith made excellent scripts and is now known for movies like

“Chasing Amy”, “Dogma” and “Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back”

I like all of his movies and I cant wait to see “ Zack and Miri Make a Porno”
